A Break Down of 4th Year

Clinical Placements

Through the year, you will have a number of clinical placements for 3, half days a week. These will include:

Medical Placement

GP placement

Surgical Placement

Clinical Decision Making (CDM)

There is a remote, taught element to 4th year known as CDM. It is split into 17 blocks:

  • Heam Onc
  • Non-malignant Heam
  • Endocrine
  • Non-Communicable Diseases
  • Renal
  • Liver disease
  • Neurology
  • Cardio-Resp
  • Immunology
  • Acute infection
  • Chronic Infection
  • Connective Tissue disorders
  • Intentional and unintentional presentations
  • Cancer
  • Diagnostic Challenges

4th year is assessed through 3 exam types. Their weightings and rough timings* are below:
