About the MedEdNCL Written Assessments Recourse Bank

This question has been created by medical students to help you practice and develop your written skills.

The questions are designed by final year medical students, and reviewed by a range of final year students and clinical teaching fellows. These questions are reviewed at least once and are accurate at time of writing, however, if there are any inaccuracies or errors in any question, please email [email protected].

The questions uploaded are in no way designed to mimic the Written Skills Examination (WriSkE).

How to use the bank

There are approximately [insert number here] questions in the bank. Each question is tagged by the skills and specialty assessed, and the year groups the question is relevant to.  To filter relevant questions, you can use the ‘category filter’ on the front page of the bank. They can also be sorted through searching for ‘tags’ on the MedEdNCL website.

Each question is divided into two downloadable .pdf documents:

  • Task
  • Answer with explanations.

Each question has a number of sections:

  • Scenario Information – this includes history, investigations, additional information and other appropriate pieces of information)
  • Task – Containing the information of the task you’re expected to complete
  • Examination Stationary – Standardised clinical stationary designed by the MedEd Committee
  • Sample Answer – Found within the ‘Answer Document’, this is a model answer to the task provided
  • Explanation – Explanation of the model answer and some additional information / teaching / resources relating to the content of the task
  • Useful Information and References – This includes other learning resources that may be helpful and links which act as attribution to content the original authors where appropriate.

The names of the question author and reviewers are also included on each question.

Licence

All resources used as part of the MedEdNCL Written Skills Assessments Bank are licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

This means users are able to download and use the resources freely. Users are also ably to distribute and adapt our resources freely, but must credit MedEdNCL for this.

In cases where images or other resources have been used from other websites, we have ensured they have been taken form groups which use the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License and have credited the original creators within our ‘Sample Answer with Explanation’ documents.
